Smoke Smell and Evacuation at Lodge GrillSmoke Smell and Evacuation at Lodge Grill

Employees smelled smoke coming from a back room at the Lodge Grill & Bar in Baxter, and guests were evacuated as a precaution on Friday afternoon.

The fire department examined the building and the restaurant was cleared to go back into operation shortly.

Brainerd Fire Chief Fred Underhill said the cause of the smell was likely from a ballast in a fluorescent light.

The attached lodge hotel was not evacuated.

Early Friday morning Jason's Casual Dining of Little Falls burned to the ground.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, as there was a message painted on one of the walls - 'Jason I told you'.

Jasons was open to the public on Thursday evenings, as most of their business was catering and hosting banquets.
